Site Assessment & Monitoring

Many of our services require an ecological site assessment early on in the project. These assessments may be needed to design a restoration project, prepare permit applications, complete a siting analysis, or just to document conditions on a newly purchased park property. Coldwater has, on staff, two certified Professional Wetland Scientists (PWS), a Level III Ohio EPA Qualified Data Collector (QHEI), fully-trained wetland delineators, and scientists with over 130 years of combined experience in the ecological field. Other training includes the Ohio Rapid Assessment Method for Wetlands (ORAM), Wildland Hydrology/Rosgen Stream Restoration training, plant identification, and invasive species risk assessment. Our scientists are familiar with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s Regional Supplements to the Corps Delineation Manual and other site assessment methodologies.

In addition to general ecological site assessments, we can also provide the following services:

  • Wetland Delineation
  • Stream Habitat Assessments (Including QHEI, HHEI, RBP)
  • Lake and Estuary Assessments (Including LakeQHEI)
  • Vegetation Index of Biotic Integrity (VIBI)
  • Threatened and Endangered Species Presence/Absence Surveys and Habitat Assessments
  • Invasive Species Assessment & Removal

Many times a site must also be assessed to determine if any clean up is necessary prior to restoration or development and agencies often require post implementation monitoring to document the success of the project. Our experience ranges from restoration sites to landfills and our services include:

  • Sediment Sampling
  • Water Quality Sampling of Surface Water and Groundwater
  • Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Oversight
  • Statistical Analysis
  • Reporting
